Are Tech Giants Moving the Pieces on Democracy’s Chessboard?

A Give & Take Facilitated Discussion

As it has become a force in American society, the tech industry has increasingly tried to influence our politics. Tech titans have made multimillion-dollar contributions to political campaigns, lobbied effectively for vice presidential candidates, and even become key advisors to presidents. How powerful is the tech industry? What effect does this have on our elections? And how will it continue to shape our political system? In this session, Professor Margaret O’Mara (History) will lead a discussion on the intersection between Silicon Valley and Washington D.C.

Please note that Give & Take is structured as a live discussion, not a lecture with Q&A. It will not be streamed on Zoom or recorded. Please come with ideas an opinions as well as questions, and be prepared to dive in with our expert facilitator. In order to keep the group an appropriate size for the discussion, pre-registration is required.
