Stop the Bleed First Aid Workshop
The number one cause of preventable death after injury is bleeding. It can happen anywhere, at any time, and being trained in how to Stop the Bleed can save lives. This session, developed by the American College of Surgeons, will include hands-on training for the three techniques that help stop severe bleeding.
This workshop will be held in the UW School of Nursing Simulation Center, which is in the T Wing of the Warren G. Magnuson Health Sciences building (adjacent to UW Medical Center).
Our instructor is Susanna Cunningham, Professor Emerita in the UW School of Nursing. Her educational history includes bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing with a PhD in physiology and biophysics and a post-doctoral year in public health. Susanna has been a Stop the Bleed instructor since 2018.
Susanna loves to take her grandchildren on outings to introduce them to the amazing Pacific Northwest. She is also an enthusiastic traveler, walker, ham radio operator, and is the captain of the Lake City Emergency Communication Hub.
Accessibility Notes: The Center is accessible for wheelchairs and walkers. The speaker will be amplified.
