Tea Ceremony at the Seattle Japanese Garden in the Arboretum

The Shoseian Tea house offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience a 40-minute tea presentation in a traditional roji garden setting.

UWRA has two times reserved on October 21 – at 12 noon and at 1:00 p.m.  Please select your time when you register.

Please note: Visitors are encouraged to sit on tatami mats, with bench seating available for those unable to do so. They request participants wear socks or tights (no bare feet), and avoid wearing jeans, rings, and personal fragrances. Guests at tea ceremony are asked to wear masks in the roji garden and Shoseian Teahouse. The Seattle Japanese Garden is a culturally authentic site, and for this reason some areas of the garden are not accessible to people with disabilities, including the garden immediately surrounding the tea house.
