UW Bothell/Cascadia College Sustainability Tour
Come see the UW Bothell/Cascadia College campus! The campus sustainability coordinator will help us learn about the history of the site and see several of the sustainable features that make it the #1 most sustainable campus grounds in the world. These features include edible landscapes, restored wetland, and more. Wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather, and bring a water bottle.
Beginning with a first graduating class of three students in 1991, UW Bothell has now grown to be the home of almost 6,000 students. Along the way the campus has expanded and developed from its first location in a local business park to 128 acres of picturesque land overlooking the protected North Creek Wetland. Although modern in style, UW Bothell’s buildings are designed to complement the land’s natural beauty and to maximize environmental sustainability.
The North Creek Wetland is one of the largest and most complex floodplain restorations in Washington State. Diligent maintenance combined with thoughtful design has helped make the wetland a regionally-recognized success story. It is now home to a rich mosaic of plants and animals.
ACCESSIBILITY NOTES: Participants should expect to be moving for the duration of the tour. The route will accommodate wheelchairs and will include elevator access. Brief pauses for seated rest will be possible along the tour. The tour guide will use voice amplification.
