What’s New with Insurance for Medicare-Eligible UW Retirees?

Prepare for Open Enrollment season by learning about changes to the Uniform Classic and Kaiser Medicare plans for the 2025 plan year. Join Ellen Wolfhagen of the Health Care Authority for a clear and comprehensive explanation of the new pharmacy benefit structure. Ellen will provide details on how the plan will work for subscribers (it’s not as different as you might think!), what will be new, and what remains unchanged.

Beginning in January 2025, the UMP Classic Medicare plan and the Kaiser Medicare plan will include Medicare Part D drug coverage instead of creditable drug coverage provided through the Health Care Authority. This change was made to make the plans more affordable. By having Part D drug coverage, the plans will be eligible for additional federal subsidies and will benefit from upcoming Medicare drug negotiations.

This presentation will explain the change and how it will affect subscribers. The session is suitable for current UMP Classic or Kaiser Medicare subscribers as well as for those considering the plans. The speaker will not be addressing questions about coverage of specific drugs at this session.

For an overview and comparison of all the UW retiree insurance options offered by the HCA, attend Ellen’s virtual Retirement Resource Fair session on October 17.
