Understanding UW’s Willed Body Program
The What, How, and Why of Donating
If you’ve ever thought about willing your body to science – or even if you haven’t – you probably have questions. How does the process work? What legal, medical and other considerations come up? And, probably most important, what are the benefits of my gift to medical students and medical research? In this online program, Shawn Kamke, Program Operations Specialist for the UW’s Willed Body Program, will answer these questions and more.
Shawn Kamke is a former funeral director and has been at UW for almost five years, first as an Anatomical Embalmer and now as the Program Operations Specialist for the Willed Body Program.
The UW Willed Body Program is a whole body donation program for donors from Washington State. In addition to helping students in the health professions master complex anatomy, donations allow medical researchers to develop and maximize important tools to help patients.
