Arboretum Native Plants Tour
The Pacific Northwest is home to an amazing variety of plant life, from our towering conifers to the subtle and delicate Western bleeding heart (Dicentra formosa). We are fortunate that the Olmsted Brothers who designed the Washington Park Arboretum collection valued our native species and felt they were vital to the arboretum. On this tour, you will visit the Native Knoll to learn native plant identification.
Two identical one-hour tours will be offered. When you register, you will be asked to choose either the 10:00 tour or the 12:30 tour.
The Arboretum is a welcome oasis on the shores of Lake Washington. Jointly managed by the University of Washington Botanic Gardens and the City of Seattle, its 230 acres contain a dynamic assortment of plants, some found nowhere else in the Northwest.
ACCESSIBILITY NOTES: Tours are tailored to each group’s abilities. If some guests have mobility limitations, the guides avoid stairs, use solid pathways, and manage the length and speed of the tour. The guide will use a voice amplification device. Learn more about accessibility at Washington Park Arboretum.
