UW Retirees Health Insurance Forum
Navigating the many health insurance options can be complex, so we are pleased to offer this forum — a dedicated space for UW retirees to exchange insights, share personal experiences, and discuss the nuances of different health care insurance plans.
This initiative is designed to foster communication among peers to share and compare firsthand experiences, ask questions within your peer community, and offer constructive dialogue. Whether you are evaluating coverage options, seeking clarification, or want to contribute information that you have learned along the way, your input will help build a stronger, more informed community. Hopefully it will demystify the process and empower its users. It is a moderated forum that does not permit discussions regarding public policy.
We invite you to participate, engage, and help shape this valuable resource for the benefit of all.
COMMUNITY STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES
This listserv is intended for the sole use of UW retirees (or UW employees approaching retirement), as well as their partners and spouses. Membership in the UW Retirement Association is not required.
Neither the University of Washington nor the Washington State Health Care Authority is responsible for the content or comments posted by listserv members and should not be held liable for any statements or information shared in this forum.
This is a moderated listserv, staffed by UWRA volunteers. All posts will be reviewed by moderators to determine whether they meet the listserv guidelines. Posts will normally be processed within 36 hours; this forum is not intended for time-sensitive questions that require an urgent response.
By using this listserv, you agree to observe these guidelines.
Appropriate conduct
We ask that you observe the “three C’s” of online conduct, so that your postings are Civil, Constructive, and Content-appropriate.
Civil & Constructive
Please approach discussions with respect for individual perspectives and priorities. Refrain from personal attacks, disputes, sarcasm, or inflammatory language.
Your postings should advance the conversation in which you are participating, rather than diminishing or distracting from it.
Content-appropriate
This is a forum for discussing health insurance options available to UW retirees. Other topics—concerning, for example, health care policy and politics—should be directed elsewhere. Nor are commercial messages permitted, other than materials produced by UWRA, PEBB, HCA or relevant insurance carriers.
Please ensure that your posts are concise and on-topic. Clearly note when you are introducing a new topic. Avoid responding to posts simply to express agreement or disagreement (e.g., with emojis), which can distract from the primary content. By default, replies to posts on this listserv will be delivered to all members of the list. When appropriate, consider moving side conversations off the list by sending a message directly to the poster using their individual email address.
Although membership in this listserv is limited to those as specified above, it is not a HIPAA-protected resource, and as it is hosted on UW systems, information provided in this forum is discoverable through FOIA. Do not share information you wish to keep confidential and limit personal information as appropriate.
