See the future of aging in action through the work of UWRA’s outstanding 2026 scholarship and fellowship recipients. Then hear a talk by Dr. Thabele Leslie-Mazwi on the forward-looking research into cognitive health and aging.
Your reservation includes a seated, plated lunch with dessert and the opportunity to connect with scholars, fellows, and other UWRA members. Reservations are $30/person.

About the Talk
We would all love to age with our cognition and mental capacity intact. How do we? There has never been a more pivotal moment in the Neurosciences. At the University of Washington, we are leading the way. Dr. Bay Leslie-Mazwi, co-director of the UW Medicine Neurosciences Institute, will update us on the latest innovations that will improve brain health in our lifetimes, why this matters, and how this work will impact the course of human history.

The $30 event fee covers a portion of the cost of the meal and event. No scholarship funds are used for any event costs.
Accessibility and Access
The Walker Ames Room in Kane Hall is fully accessible to wheels and walkers. Disability parking stalls are available in the Central Plaza Garage, with a ramp and elevator from the garage to the second floor of Kane Hall, where Walker Ames is located. The speaker will be amplified.

Speakers
Professor Thabele M. Leslie-Mazwi, MD
Professor Thabele M. Leslie-Mazwi, MD, is chair of the UW’s Department of Neurology. He holds the Warren and Jermaine Magnuson Endowed Chair in Medicine for Neurosciences and practices in the neurocritical care unit. He is deeply passionate about improving care delivery across the spectrum of neurological disease.
Dr. Leslie-Mazwi earned his MD at the University of Zimbabwe and completed his neurology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Florida. He then completed a fellowship in Neurologic Critical Care at Massachusetts General Hospital/ Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Neurology/ Endovascular Neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital.
