UW Biology Greenhouse Tour

For almost 70 years, the UW greenhouse has played a vital role in research and teaching.  Whether focusing on plant-pollinator interactions, paleoclimatology, or other biological questions, its teaching collection has enhanced and inspired UW biological research.

The tour provides an opportunity to learn about the fascinating plants the UW community cultivates and studies.

The new 20,000 square foot greenhouse opened just a few years ago with about 6,000 plant specimens. The Greenhouse is located in the lower level/ southwest side of the Life Sciences Building, at 3747 W Stevens Way NE on the UW’s Seattle campus.

Accessibility Notes:

  • The tour will be divided into small groups. To avoid creating problems for other groups, guides will not use voice amplification in the small spaces of the greenhouse.
  • Most (but not all) areas of the greenhouse are either level or accessible by elevator. Narrow aisles can make passage by wheelchairs in some areas difficult.
  • Accessible parking is located on the south side of Kincaid Hall, off NE Thurston PL, nearby the west LSB Greenhouse entrance. Guests can be dropped off in the Kincaid lot for easier accessibility to the nearby Greenhouse entrance.

Please note: Not all areas of the greenhouse are fully accessible. If you have questions about accessibility, please contact UWRA.

All UWRA events and programs are open to all eligible persons regardless of race, sex or other identity.
